Default Some game ideas and suggestions mostly PvE

*warning, long read up ahead, impatient people beware*

This is just a few suggestions for PvP and PvE portions of the game. Although I really don't want to have this turn into another PvP vs PvE discussion, I just think it would really improve things and develop more for both sides in a way. (I'm not really too informed on what the PvP side is like, because I don't PvP in this game or have much desire to, so bear with me. I probably shouldn't even be making suggestions for this side really)

Now, instead of having it be ok for PvE players to just randomly join in on PvP games and the like, just have a few arenas where a PvE player can play PvP or do GvG or whatever, and leave the rest strictly prohibited to PvP players. Even if a PvE player wants to engage in PvP play, have it so that they are stripped of all their PvE belongings (armor, weapons, items, gold), and qualities, and put those things in like a storage locker or something. Then they will have to go choose between different types of PvP only armor, which don't give the same stats, but insure everyone is equal out on the playing field. Along with PvP weapons as well, make it so that nobody has anything too flashy or unique, altering the playing field or making it unfair. Next, they would go to a screen similar to a timer, like in the pre-searing to post battle, to insure nobody has to sit around and wait for a group forever. Then you just get randomly put together with a bunch of weirdos, and get your PvP fix for the day. Nothing complicated, nothing unfair, also making level being part of the determining factor for what group of numbskulls you're stuck with, to make it even more better. Then you just get tossed into a big dirt arena, where you just pound the crap out of eachother till the battle ends, FLAWLESS VICTORY!

Then, for the winners, they get to advance on to the next best team of numbskulls, and the losers get transported to a losers island with Prince Rurik reading poetry to them about Ascalon and Gwen, until they make their way back. Of course, they would have a place on the island where you can go pick up your belongings, for the long jog back to the arena. Therefore eliminating all the trash talk, except among the losers on their little island with Prince Rurik in the background. Maybe even spice it up a bit, by making it so that in order to get off the island, you have to go find 5 red iris flowers and give them to Prince Rurik for his lovely poetry reading. On the losers island also, your rank emotes won't work, instead, confetti pops out of your chest along with the sound of a deflating balloon or something (make it like this in all PvE areas as well). You know, just so the losers can't tell the other losers that they're any better or whatever. For the winners, after they have excelled through all the matches that are offered and turn out to be the winners, they get transported to a place that looks like the hall of heroes. There, you all stand in an area, where Gwen skips out to talk to you and congratulate you, giving you gifts and a new emote that turns you into a big tomato or something. She then skips away, and comes back only to incinerate you to death for 8000 damage, transporting you to a different island with Prince Rurik singing to you instead (maybe "We are the champions"), or something like that. Then you can wipe all the sweat and tears off your computer and carry on.

Also, PvP characters shouldn't have to participate in the grind of the other world because they want to unlock skills or other things necessary for them to simply PvP. There should be a type of skill selection screen which allows you to pick all the skills you want to PvP with, along with which elites you want to bring with too. Suit up in your PvP armor and go!

p.s. Stop advertising who wins the basketball game or has favor or whatever. That should not be a determining factor for a PvE area to be explored either. Just makes things more annoying and seem like a football game that has invaded the land of Tyria. (but instead of using soccer balls or footballs, could it be deflated life pods? that could be a thought too.)

Now, for the PvE side...

Make it so that a character develops character throughout every level they get through, instead of having the character be the exact same as they were when they started out. Have different skill trees or attributes that branch out when they level up so that they have something to look forward to. Also, make it so that they can take on new appearances at a certain time or change their hair or something.

All trade is or can be done with NPC merchants, taking away the need for people to stand around for hours saying WTS or WTB. I mean, wouldn't it be better than nerfing farm locations, or even have the need for farm locations to buy that ridiculous armor that costs so much, but has the same stats as the Sanford&Son droks shop? That would be another suggestion as well, if it's PvE, why not have some really awesome stats on that expensive armor? Instead of just going out to fight monsters in style, you could have some really good stats on it as well, making it more worth the money.

Have some areas with some incredibly hard to beat monster bosses, that will always drop something if defeated for all that participated, and never the same thing everytime, or every other time, to eliminate the idea of farming the boss. Also, take out the idea of PvE being a training ground for PvP. Monsters with human learned professions, like devourers, is completely stupid in my opinion. Also, you could mix it up a bit, and have a bunch of really low level monsters, but every once in a while, have a real badass mixed in there to keep people alert more to the environment. Monsters that are intelligent enough to have learned some of these abilities, should not really be professionals at it either, instead they might use some more primitive but deadly skills against you (of course the bosses would still have their elites). Which brings me to, more monster skills... yes, have more monster skills for the creatures that are just bugs or animals or something, kind of like the mursaat.

Even if you do reach the max level of 20, it shouldn't stop there for people, and you shouldn't get transported back to the Droks village after defeating an evil lich bent on taking over the world with some titan quests as the result. Even though the world is already big, create some new content, and have the players transported to that area after destroying the lich. Once they're done with that area, that could be like the end game area. Not to say it ends there though, there would still be really hard monster bosses to defeat, with different loot everytime, who's names intermingle more with the story. The lairs and places that they are found in also have more of a story on their own; some deep dark history that will keep people more hooked into the game. That way, you're never sitting around saying to yourself, "Gee, I leveled up all my characters to 20 and captured all the skills, switched professions, captured more skills, spent ridiculous amounts of money on things, what now?" Well, I'll tell ya, there's some incredibly hard to beat evil badass monsters living in lairs that you can go wonder off into, and spend countless hours trying to defeat in hopes of actually getting through to the big baddy at the end. If you actually live long enough to get to that point, then you can get some random awesome loot and feel a sense of accomplishment in the game. Then when your done with that, go seek out the next big adventure lair or dungeon, with it's own evil storyline and influence in the world. People at level 1 should not be able to do the same things that somebody higher level than they are can, that's ridiculous. Keep the cap at 20, I really don't mind that at all, but somebody should not be able to be run through the game and get the same armor a level 20 guy gets (or even be able to wear it, unless they use PvP armor perhaps), and get to the fire islands at level 2.

Exploring is another one. If you take out the idea of running people all over the map, because they can't use the armor or weapons in droks in the first place, this would be fun. Instead of trying to figure out how to turn your character into a lawn mower to get through groups of 50 or more ice imps just to visit a new town or outpost. I should be able to avoid conflict just as much as facing it really. If you don't have the armor suited for the environment, then you take extra damage from the creatures inhabiting that environment, making it nearly impossible for a level 1 guy to go explore all of Tyria without the proper gear. There should be more small, meaningless or not, quests that you can accomplish in every town too. An example would be something like... "Merchant Riff Raff will not trade with you until you go hunt down and destroy the evil monster responsible for his miseries, and retrieve the lost artifact of brikabrak." That would be interesting, because for one, I would like to trade with Riff Raff and see what he offers, but also, I am interested in the quest allowing me to do so as well. Kind of tired of getting to a new town, and saying, "Oh... ho hum, where's the storage?", kind of takes the excitement of getting there completely out of it, when all you see is a bunch of shady dwarves with no explanation as to why they're even there in the first place. Standing around, with their red tipped noses, I guess from drinking too much dwarven ale? So, are they just a bunch of drunks lost in the shiverpeaks with Dolyaks? This way, every town has it's own story, and it's own explanation for being there, as well as trying to tie me into it somehow.

I realize this is a fairly new game and all, and that I can't expect too much from this game or some expansions coming out, but come on; at least some of my suggestions aren't too high are they? Maybe it's time I find a better game to play, who knows, but I really enjoy this one alot, and it has sooo much more potential to be incredible. I know the game is called "Guild Wars" but that isn't really clear enough for me. If I start up a PvE character and don't want to join a PC guild, maybe I could join an NPC guild that has just as many benefits and opportunities as a PC one? Like, my neutral guild of shady dwarves could go to battle against the Charr guild, who also has a mixture of PC's and NPC's competing for the ability to take over some part of the country or something, and claim it's resources. If my guild wins, then I get to have access to some of the more unique charr items and weapons/armor etc., if not, I'm stuck on the island with Rurik reading poetry to me or some other part of territory not able to be taken over. Who knows, maybe some of these ideas will come out in further expansions, I guess I'll just have to be patient, and hurry up and wait.

I really like your ideas but i would like to add 2 things:

1) it really pisses me off that to get some quests i have to wander around throught the game world. every quest should be started in a city or town!

2) when people leave a group the game should replace that person by a clone henchmen of that person so the group aint bummed. and if its too much to ask for a clone of the leaver, then at least add a henchmen with the same class and level...

*EDIT*

you sayd something about how you would like your char to change whilst you go throught the game. wouldnt it be cool that you start as a child, and the more you go up the level the more adult you look like? this way even the armor problem would be solved because they could say youre too little for this armor...

I agree with your first two ideas, although I don't mind leaving town to go find a different quest. I don't think I would be really too excited about starting off as a child though, it seems like it might be a bit too psychological for some players. Plus, since I'm already an adult, I would like to play a more adult-like character.

When I originally thought of the idea of the character changing, at first I thought about maybe aging or something. But then I realized that changing could be more of just an appearance type feature that would go with hair, facial features, etc. Kind of like the choices you get at the creation screen, except make it so that it becomes available again later... with more improvements perhaps.

Im confused, it's stated PVE, yet you talk about PVP. Than you tend to mix it into a PVE wearing PVP armor royale.

I really like this idea. Replacing with the equivalent canned henchman that you could have picked up at the nearest town would suffice.

Well, that was just an example, given the idea that all PvP armor would be equal, to balance the playing field.

I like these ideas.

Make the mobs harder with more diversification.

Have an attribute requirement to use the different types of higher level armor. This would probably be skewed with people just getting power levelled - but it's a start.

I really like your end game missions with more high level mobs and some story line to immerse you more into the world of Tyria.

I agree with most of the ideas.. good suggestions.

Lack of good solid RP-ish content is one of GW's weaker points. It has the potential, if more investment were made.

Here are something to what I have in mind.... (sadly.. no one read.. )
